Theater and movies
Utrecht is also a film city; and known for the annual Dutch Film festival. The most beautiful cinemas in Utrecht, Louis Hartlooper Comples and Springhaver are both located near De Hoendervorst. Music center Tivoli Vredenburg is a nationally popular location where many national and international artists and orchestras perform. The Beatrix theater is nationally known for the great musicals that are performed there.

City parks
From De Hoendervorst you can walk to one of the beautiful city parks in Utrecht.
In good weather also a nice place to have a picnic.
- Park Lepelenburg: is part of the Zocherpark and is easily accessible on foot via the park along the Utrechtse Singel.
- Wilhelminapark; a monumental city park in the east of Utrecht. The history of the Wilhelminapark dates back to the year 1888. With its many old trees and elegant fountain, it is one of the most beautiful parks in the Netherlands. The park is surrounded by stately mansions and monumental city villas. The wide promenade runs from north to south in the southern part of a large sunbathing lawn.

Shopping
On the other side of De Hoendervorst you will find the Twijnstraat, a shopping street since the 13th century and thus one of the oldest shopping streets in the Netherlands. You will mainly find small, special specialty shops. The larger shopping area of Utrecht with all famous fashion stores and the well-known department store De Bijenkorf can be reached after a 10-minute walk along the beautiful Oudegracht. Along the way you will walk many nice and surprising shops, boutiques and galleries.

Market
- Flower market, Janskerkhof 1, Utrecht. Every Saturday from 08:00 to 17:00 o clock.
- Lapjesmarkt, Breedstraat 1 and Begijnhof, Utrecht. Every Saturday from 08:00 to 13:00. The largest and oldest cloth market in the Netherlands.
- Vredenburg, Vredenburg 1, Utrecht. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays you can go here for, for example, fresh fish, meat, syrup waffles, vegetables, fruit and other delicious food. In addition, also stalls with clothing, shoes, electronics and care products.

Amsterdam
If you want to supplement your stay with a day or evening in Amsterdam, De Hoendervorst is also an excellent base for this. From Utrecht Central Station you can reach Amsterdam CS in half an hour. For concerts in Ziggodome, AFAS Live or football matches and other events in Johan Cruijff Arena, you are only 17 minutes by train (Bijlmer Arena).
